The Estimator role is part of the Commercial & Tendering Team and will be responsible for preparing and supporting the timely submission of tender documents, ensuring a thorough understanding of the requirements of the Client and tender specifications.

  • support and update the Senior Estimator as required, including preparing cost estimates and technical proposals for tender submissions;
  • review and assess tenders ensuring all tender documents are received and correct;
  • review tender documents assessing scope, risks involved, tender complexity, etc and provide feedback to the Senior Estimator and Commercial & Tendering Manager;
  • ensure timely and accurate submission of tender documents;
  • make tender amendments where applicable utilising client feedback on submitted tender;
  • maintain an understanding of the performance of current projects to ensure continuous improvement for all future tendering opportunities;
  • ensure the tendering database is maintained;
  • maintain a good understanding of current project operations;
  • tertiary qualification in Engineering (Mining);
  • minimum 5 years in the mining industry in an engineering or site-based role;
  • be open-minded and willing to learn new things and work with different processes and procedures;
  • previous extensive experience in the co-ordination, planning, administration and management of the tender submission process to successful outcomes;
  • possess an advanced understanding of the development of estimation methodologies, identification of major cost components, performing bid evaluations, cost factor analysis and risk analysis;
  • demonstrated high level negotiation and analytical skills;
  • exceptional attention to detail and accuracy with numbers;
  • sound working knowledge of Project Management principles;
